Sorting out Le’Veon Bell and LeSean McCoy trade rumors, previewing Eagles-Giants
The Philadelphia Eagles got tough news this week with the diagnosis that running back Jay Ajayi will miss the remainder of the season with a torn ACL. Right around the same time, the Eagles restructured defensive lineman Fletcher Cox’s contract, which sent off alarms that general manager Howie Roseman could be in the trade market for a playmaker such as Le’Veon Bell or LeSean McCoy.
The Eagles go into a Thursday night showdown with their NFC East rival New York Giants with a buzz of speculation. But right now, this is a 2-3 team that will likely lean on the running backs it has in Wendell Smallwood, Corey Clement and Darren Sproles. The Eagles will also ride the right arm of Carson Wentz while looking to shore up its pass defense and its offensive line.
Philadelphia has problems to solve, but the good news is the NFC East is still wide open with the Eagles trailing the division-leading Washington Redskins by just half a game. The Eagles are 3-point favorites over the Giants on Thursday, then play three straight games and five of their next six at Lincoln Financial Field.
A win streak isn’t out of the question, and it could all begin with a Thursday night win over the Giants.
PennLive reporter Dustin Hockensmith tackled those subjects and more on this edition of the Philadelphia Eagles Blitz. Eagles beat reporter Daniel Gallen also joined the show to break down the Eagles-Giants matchup and give his prediction. Take a look in the video above.
